Supernatural creatures featuring on Reaper
Posted by: | CommentsThe most fascinating thing about Reaper TV Show was not its story but its mythology. There were various creatures that were part of this mythology and their distinct characteristics which were revealed slowly through the unraveling of the story. But if you understand the characteristics of these peculiar creatures well, then the pleasure of watching Reaper TV Show is bound to get double.
There are Demons and Escaped Souls which are wanted by Devil as they belong to him. I will discuss these two in detail later as today I will discuss those who aid devil, namely Reapers, Vessels and Enders.

Reapers are those who have been tasked by Devil to capture the souls that somehow managed to escape the depths of hell. Sam was forced to become a Reaper in the pilot of the series itself. It was never revealed how many Reapers were working for Devil and if all of them were humans.
As Sam is given the responsibility to souls that are already dead and in possession of various supernatural abilities, it’s futile to try to catch them or kill them. To make his job easier, Devil provides Vessels to him which could be just anything including a living thing like a dove. Since Vessel usually has the appearance of ordinary day-to-day accessory, it can be easily mistaken for it. As Vessel does not come with an instruction manual, it’s up to Sam to figure out how to use it.
All Vessels are unique in the terms that each vessel will hold that particular escaped soul only for which it is intended and has no effect on any other escaped soul. The most interesting thing is that most escaped souls become alert in the presence of Vessel especially if it is meant for them. They instinctively know that the wielder of the vessel is likely to capture them and send them back to hell. The best thing about Vessels is that just about anyone can use them to capture souls, and for that matter other matters like corpse, besides souls.
Last but not the least is the Ender who is Devil’s backup plan. In case, Sam refuses to detain the escaped soul and send it to Hell, the Ender is summoned to find and destroy the soul so the soul would neither go to Heaven or Hell.
Reaper may survive in Syndication

Well, think again. Like some of the undead creatures on it, the quirky CW dramedy is refusing to die.
Sources said show producer ABC Studios is in talks with CW affiliate stations about continuing “Reaper” as a syndicated series for Sunday night.
While “Reaper” has been pretty much canceled at the CW, most stations are said to love the series starring Brett Harrison as the Devil’s bounty hunter. The show enjoys a rabid fan base.
So when the network decided to give Sunday night back to its affiliates last week, they started preliminary conversations with ABC Studios about possibly continuing the show with original episodes.
Sources said that ABC Studios also is exploring a possible afterlife for the cult series on cable.
Both scenarios are considered a long shot with two major obstacles.
“Reaper” creators/executive producers Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters have moved on, recently inking an overall deal with 20th TV.
And the show’s sidekick, Tyler Labine, stars in the newly picked up Fox comedy series “Sons of Tucson.”
There are conflicting takes on whether a syndicated version of “Reaper” would be in first or second position to “Tucson,” but he may be unavailable to stay on “Reaper.”
Since its midseason return for a second season, “Reaper” has averaged about a 1.0 rating in 18-49, ranking as the network’s lowest-rated drama.
But with the current programming on Sundays averaging below a 0.5 in recent weeks, “Reaper” could potentially improve the slot.

Reaper Recap: “The Good Soil”
Posted by: | CommentsMorgan offers to pay Sam $20,000 if he helps him catch the latest soul, Billy Boyland. Billy it turns out went to Hell for merely coveting his neighbor’s wife. Before they capture him, Billy pleads with them that he’s still a virgin and just wants to lose that before he’ll go back. Bill takes them to a local bar where the woman he coveted on earth, Cindy, hangs out. Cindy is now recently divorced and Billy and her end up going home together. It’s true love and Billy convinces Sam not to send him back.
The guys try and use the vessel (a dodgeball) on Billy’s corpse in the graveyard. It works and they turn it into Gladys. Later, the Devil informs Sam that now an Ender is coming to get the soul and it’ll be far worse for Billy… his soul will just be destroyed. However, before the Ender can get to him it just turns away, probably because of the true love it’s no longer coveting. Meanwhile, Morgan shows up at the end and nails Billy with the dodgeball, capturing him. Tough break. Sam goes to visit Billy’s grave and sees Alan, the guy who got out of Hell, who takes off running.
