At the Work bench, a new greeter, Mary Pat, is greeting customers. The gang is astonished and repulsed by her enthusiasm. Tony hasn’t gotten back to Sam on translating the scroll that Mr. Oliver sent from Hell. Sam goes to the stockroom and finds a boom box playing circus music. When he picks it up, he finds himself teleported to a street corner and a shrine to Jimbo the Dancing Monkey. The Devil is mourning the death of his favorite monkey. He gives Sam the file on the newest escaped soul then asks Sam to dance for him. When Sam refuses, the Devil reminds him who owns whose souls and puts a fez on him. Sam has no choice but to dance as everyone stares.

As Mary Pat continues to greet everyone, Sam bemoans his fate to Sock. The new soul is Roger Lund, a drug dealer, and the vessel is a machete. Sock is busy setting up a new paint mixer and it goes horribly wrong. A can goes flying, just missing Mary Pat as she picks up a lucky coin. She explains that she’s protected by lucky fairies and wanders off.

The guys go to the trailer court where Roger lives. They go inside and find the place covered with toads and Roger, relaxing on the couch. He asks for the chance to get high before they send him back, and Sam reluctantly agrees. Roger starts licking toads and then grows a giant tongue. He attacks Sam and tries to pull him into his mouth. Sock manages to grab the machete and sends Roger back to Hell.

Ben decides to take the toads home as pets so he can introduce them to his rabbit. His grandma arrives and comes to apologize for how she treated Nina. She invites Ben and Nina to dinner at her house and Ben agrees.

At the Work bench, Andi is having no luck translating the ancient demon writing. Mary Pat notices and talks about her lucky fairies. She goes outside and starts smoking by the propane tanks, and there’s an enormous explosion. They run outside only to discover that she’s unharmed. As Andi gets her to the hospital, Sam notices that the blast somehow entirely avoided her. Steve the (former) demon appears and explains he’s now a guardian angel in charge of protecting Mary Pat. He’s not happy with being in charge of an accident-prone crazy but figures he has to start at the bottom. He explains that Tony and Little Stevie are relaxing at a spa, and Sam asks him to translate the scroll. He gives it a try and explains that it’s an incantation to compel the Devil to appear and enter into a contest with the invoker. Steve asks for a day to render it phonetically. Now all Sam has to do is find something he’s good at.

Back at home, Sam decides that the clarinet he played in third grade is his best talent. Unfortunately, Andi is better and gives a demonstration to indicate what Sam is up against. Sam admits it’s a lost cause. The gang starts drinking and playing quarters, while Andi tries to encourage Sam. Sam remembers how good he is at the game of Quarters and demonstrates how he never misses. He figures he’s got it made.

Ben and Nina arrive at his grandmother’s house. She has them come in and meet Father O’Malley, an exorcist. Ben’s grandmother wants Nina cleansed of her evil, but Ben insists that he loves Nina just the way she is. Grandmother Gonzalez warns him that he’s out of the family until Nina is cleansed.

Sam continues to practice while Andi drinks on his behalf. She wonders if Sam hates her and notes that she gave him the boot and wasn’t there when he needed her. He explains that he understands and it’s a lot for anyone. She insists on having sex but collapses and Sam puts her to bed. The next morning, Ben and Sock are arguing over Sock’s invention of a sex move, the Shark Attack, even though Ben insists Egyptian pharaohs did it. Steve appears to Sam and gives him the translation and a copy of the Devil’s suit. According to the translation, Sam needs to appear as the Devil’s reflection and behave just as confidently.

As Ben and Nina eat, Nina thanks him for standing up to his grandmother. He admits she’ll never forgive him and he’ll be dead to the family and stripped of his public identity. As they kiss, Pesi tells them there’s someone outside towing his car. Ben runs outside and discovers his cousin Jose is taking his car. Ben’s grandmother is in the tow truck and explains she’s having the car repossessed because she co-signed it. Pesi promises to get him a Pontiac but Ben isn’t consoled.

At the Work Bench that night, Sam puts on the suit and invokes a surprised Devil. He quickly recovers and congratulates Sam, then asks what Sam plans to challenge him at. Sam challenges him to a game of Quarters. The Devil accepts and they play five shots. Sam makes all five and it’s the Devil’s turn. As he shoots and scores, he apologizes for underestimating Sam and assuming he’ll mess up. He makes all five shots as well and then tells Sam that’s the end of the contest. The Devil notes he might give Sam a rematch if Sam had something to offer, and then leaves.

Ben and Sock go to his grandmother’s house while Nina waits outside. It turns out Ben has stolen everything he ever gave to Grandmother Gonzalez. Sock took Ben’s DVD player. Nina decides that it’s all wrong and refuses to tear him apart from his family. She insists that nothing can happen to her and she’ll fake it. Ben is worried she could get hurt but Nina insists she’ll be fine.

At the bar, Andi brings Gladys to help Sam translate the scroll. Sam explains what happened and Gladys checks the writing. She realizes that Steve mistranslated and that Sam should have used a mirror as a distraction. When Sam talks about the Devil wanting to receive something worthwhile, he goes to get a drink and Andi asks Gladys to set her up with a meeting for the Devil.

Ben and Nina go to his grandmother’s house and Father O’Malley is waiting. They go upstairs to begin the exorcism.

Sock is at home drinking soda and finds a note from Nina to Ben on the table. He opens it and reads it. In it, Nina says that she lied that the exorcism will work and she’ll be sent back to Hell. She preferred to go back to Hell then separate Ben from his family. Sock races of, unaware that one of Roger’s toads was in his drink. As he drives, he starts to hallucinate.

As Father O’Malley ties Nina down, Ben asks for a minute alone with her. He gives her a kiss and Nina tells him that she loves him.

Sock tries to keep control as he drives but sees Ben’s grandmother screaming at him and trying to stop him. He tries to run her down without success.

Father O’Malley begins the exorcism ritual, sprinkling holy water on Nina. Ben and his grandmother listen downstairs as screams ring out. Sock comes in but is too wasted to explain. He runs upstairs to stop the exorcism and breaks into incoherent rambling. Nina says that she feels good and tells Father O’Malley that her demon has leaped into the rambling Sock. Father O’Malley grabs him and wrestles him to the ground.

The next day at the Work bench, the Devil appears to ask for lapel tips. He tells Sam that the Quarters rematch has been set up, and that Andi put up her soul as collateral. Sam goes to confront her, but she refuses to change her mind. Andi insists that she needs to do it and she believes that Sam can beat the Devil.

That night, Sam and Andi arrive for the challenge. The Devil takes a photo of Andi for his trophy case and then sits down to play. However, Sam reveals a special surprise: Andi brought a mirrored table. This time the Devil goes first and is too distracted by his good lucks to make the first four shots. He finally covers his eyes and makes the fifth and final shot. He then smashes the glass to the ground and admits he’s a bad loser. Sam goes to get a shot glass from Housewares. As he finds one, Steve arrives to apologize for mistranslating and then takes Sam’s hand. He apologizes and then breaks Sam’s hand. Steve explains that it’s for the best and then leaves.

Sam returns to the table and refuses to forfeit. He drops the first coin with his right hand and then tries to shoot with his left. He misses all four shots and the Devil chuckles in triumph.

Later, the guys drink and commiserate. Ben is the only one who had a good week. As they leave, Sock and Ben hug Andi and then run for the car. Sam says he feels terrible for letting her down but she kisses him and insists she doesn’t feel any different. She still loves him and is happy despite how everything turned out. Andi insists they won’t stop trying and they’ll have time together, and Sam says he’s happy too. Steve appears to them both but they throw rocks at him. He finally says that he’s acting on orders from “upstairs,” and then reveals he got his wings. Steve tells them they have to believe that they’re not alone, and then ascends to Heaven with a flight of angels.
